Bankrock Bridge - Central Park
Bankrock Bridge - Central Park, April 7, 2010
Keith Nelson, Rob Hickman, Kyle Petersen
One of the simpler, unadorned bridges in Central Park, Bank Rock Bridge used to be rather fancier. Originally known as Oak Bridge, it had cast iron balustrades and yellow pine floorboards. It was rebuilt along utilitarian lines in 1982.
Location: takes park path over an arm of The Lake, Bank Rock Bay, near the American Museum of Natural History. Built: 1860 by Vaux. Made of white oak with wooden floorboards, and steel.
